Castel di Sangro is an Italian town of 6,461 inhabitants in Abruzzo. The city is the capital and headquarters of the Community Montana High Sangro and Altopiano of the Five Miles. Under a rocky outcrop, where the ruins of an old castle testify its noble origins, the country looks at the vast plain that now houses several industrial areas and craft. The country has given birth to Teofilo Patini (1840-1905), the painter who perhaps has best interpreted the hard life of farmers and shepherds from Abruzzo. Castel di Sangro has become the place of business of the area, as well as active tourist center for its proximity to the ski resorts of Roccaraso and Rivisondoli.
